Announcing Our Next Rector

Announcing Our Next Rector

For the glory of God and in thanksgiving for His faithfulness, the Vestry is delighted to announce that The Rev. Terry Gatwood has been elected Rector of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Hurst, Texas. Fr. Terry will begin his ministry with us in early February, joined by his wife, Deanna, and their two sons.

About Fr. Terry

The Rev. Terry W. Gatwood was born and raised in the village of Lockbourne, near Columbus, Ohio. He is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University (BA in History) and Trinity Anglican Seminary in Ambridge, Pennsylvania (MDiv). Before entering parish ministry, Fr. Terry served our country in both the active and reserve components of the United States Navy as a Fleet Marine Force–qualified Religious Program Specialist, deploying around the world in support of Marines and sailors.

Fr. Terry has served the Church in a variety of ministries:

• Catechist and Children’s Minister at Grace Church in Circleville, Ohio

• Curate at St. Augustine’s Church in Westerville, Ohio

• Missionary Church Planter at St. Nicholas Mission in Galloway, Ohio

• Most recently, the first Rector of All Saints Church (ADFW) in Monroe, Louisiana

Family and Interests

In 2009 Fr. Terry married his best friend, Deanna, who has spent her professional life in government service in both Ohio and Louisiana. They have two sons, Samuel (15) and Jackson (14), both high-school soccer players and, in true teenage fashion, enthusiastic video-game aficionados.

Fr. Terry is an avid fisherman and marksman, a devoted reader, a Chicago Cubs and Blue Jackets fan, and a follower of Columbus Crew soccer. He also maintains a charmingly niche hobby: collecting memorabilia from presidential election losers. He brings with him a deep passion for evangelism, ministry among veterans and youth, and a love for teaching the Bible and theology to anyone who will listen.
